A total of fifteen out of eighteen applicants took to the stage at the national Cultural Centre to compete for a chance to make the final cut for the 2016 Carnival Queen Competition.

The audition which was held on Sunday saw participation from applicants around the island.

According to the public relations officer on the Carnival Queen Committee, Louise Victor, eight candidates were successful following the tryouts and an announcement is expected to be made before April 1st

Victor says while the committee is working to finalize plans for the staging of the main event that has become a highlight of the carnival season, they have been receiving the requisite support from the CPMA.

The Carnival Queen Committee is still working out the details on how the successful candidates will be informed.
