Medical Officer of Health Dr. Sharon Belmar-George has urged for caution as members of the public attend a number of outdoor events during the Jazz and Arts Festival.

This as health officials continue the fight against the zika virus which is spread through the Aedes Egypti mosquito.

Dr George has reminded the public to apply mosquito repellents and wear appropriate clothing to prevent being bitten by mosquitoes. Dr. George further advises the public continue monitoring and implementing source reduction techniques in an around their home to prevent the breeding of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
Dr George has also reminded the public about the ongoing heat wave. She urges for the use of sunscreen, hats, drinking plenty of water and reduce alcohol consumption in an effort to reduce the possibility of heat stroke.

Health officials continues to advise the public to be cautious during the Jazz festivities.
