The Laborie Steel Pan Project is getting set to mark a milestone.

On Sunday 19 June at 5pm at the Laborie Market Square, the Laborie Pan Project will host a free concert that will mark the start of a series of events to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

With its tagline “Youth Empowerment Through Music”, the focus of the Laborie Pan Project is on youth development, and there are currently over 40 children and young adults who train and perform with the band, with the opportunity to engage in a meaningful social activity and to gain pride and self-confidence in the process.

Arranger on the pan group Andrius Edwide says the members are elated about their achievements are excited about the opportunity to share it with the public.

Apart from his own testimony of the positive impact that the Pan group has had on his life, he raves that it has also transformed the lives of other youth in the Laborie community.

Over the past ten years, the Laborie Steel Band has performed on a number of stages and has recorded a number of achievements, including 2nd place at Junior Panorama 2012, 3rd place at Junior Panorama 2013, 3rd place at Senior Panorama 2014 and 4th place at Senior Panorama 2015.
