A well known calypso enthusiast has warned that the calypso art form will not be able to survive unless a significant financial investment is made in the artistes.

The call comes from Gilroy Ezai Hall during Mass Vybes on Vybe Radio this morning.

A new committee has been established to streamline the financial management of some aspects of the Calypso tents this year which according to Hall has resulted in improvements. But he explained that a direct investment must be made in calypsonians in order to assist with the output costs associated with producing quality material, in a timely fashion.

In pointing to the costs associated with producing a quality calypso as well as performance expenses, Hall noted what he says is an improvement in tent management since the establishment of the Calypso Management Committee.

The quarter finals round of the Calypso finals is on this week.
