The absence of an official launch of what is known as the largest cultural showpiece here, appears to have boosted  the appeal of a mini Carnival hosted by the CPMA….and organizers are raving its success.

Dubbed Vavalry in the William Peter Boulevard came alive with a carnival atmosphere akin to the pageantry that is synonymous with the official opening of Carnival.

It included a showing by the various carnival bands and a display their costumes on stage and during a mini parade.

The event also included performances from new comers and veteran Soca artistes as well as Calypsonians.

Director of Carnival Teddy Francis says he is pleased with the public’s reaction to the event.

Meanwhile, Dennery Carnival will take place this weekend from Friday July 1st to July 3rd. The Dennery Valley parade will also take place on July 10th.
