Best practices for the Yachting sector were among key topics discussed when the Marine Consultant in the Ministry of Tourism met with French officials over the weekend.

The meeting was facilitated through the efforts of Consul General in Martinique Yasmine Walcott who played a role in offering representatives the opportunity to compare notes.

According to Cuthbert Didier, the discussions explored joint collaboration at all overseas boat shows as well as the development of a memorandum of Understanding for standards in the sector.

Didier says the meeting to discuss best practices speaks to the quality of the St Lucian product. However he stressed that this is not the first time that such interest has been  taken by foreign officials in the island’s yachting sector.

Meanwhile efforts are being strengthened to develop an accurate data collection system for the yachting sector.
