The President of the St. Lucia Vendors Association says an advisory issued by the Canadian Government on St. Lucia could have a domino effect on the local economy.

The advisory which identifies several hot spots in the city was issued last week, cautioning visitors of muggings and attacks on visitors.

Peter 'Ras Ipa' Isaac has lamented the situation, noting that such a decision by one of St Lucia’s leading source markets should not be taken lightly.

He has pointed to the absence of adequate police presence in the city to curb the number of attacks on visitors

Isaac adds that while tourism officials are not always pleased about negative publicity in the local press, it can come from visitors who have fallen victim to attacks while on vacation here.

He says there is need for greater effort on the part of local authorities to address the growing problem.
