Three time Olympian and world class High Jumper Levern Spencer has reacted to what many have described as a disappointing performance at the Rio event on Saturday.

St Lucians were tuned in to the High Jump Olympic Finals after a valiant attempt by Spencer to clear the qualifying height of 1.94 metres on Friday.

She would clear the bar at 1.93 metres, but the anticipation for a strong effort by the St Lucian finalist was dashed when Spencer ducked twice under the bar at 1.97 metres.

In a post jump interview Spencer cited her poor and inconsistent approach to the bar as the reason for the failed attempt.

Meanwhile the Olympic high jumper expressed gratitude for the support of thousands of St. Lucians who have been rallying with support for her at the RIO games.

Levern Spencer made history by becoming the first St Lucian to qualify for an Olympic final.
