The alleged rape of Micoud woman in her home last week by a twenty eight year old who had reportedly been recently released from Prison has sparked the ire of the Communications Officer for Speak Out St Lucia.

Norbert Williams who has been pushing for the establishment of a sex offenders registry here, believes that there must be a more proactive approach in protecting the public from individuals who are seen as predators.

He has highlighted the lack of monitoring systems including parole services for criminals who are released from prison with no support services for reintegration into society.

In proposing recommendations for addressing the rape situation here, Norbert Williams suggests that people need to be educated on what their boundaries are, and the level of tolerance for inappropriate behaviour.

He also points to a highly sexualized society as a recipe for problems.

Revealing the identity of rape victims and those accused remains illegal.
