Saint Lucians from all walks of life and in particular the youth have been invited to rally with the family of Chakadan Daniel on Monday and Tuesday, November 25th and 26th respectively.

Chakadan Daniel met his untimely death on November 22nd or 23rd in questionable circumstances while being a prisoner of the state. The case has since sparked sustained interest among St Lucians and within the local, regional and international media.

On November 25th and 26th, one phase of this ongoing saga will be traversed with the staging of a Silent March and the Funeral Service and Burial amidst looming and troubling questions surrounding the death of Chakadan Daniel. The family and Saint Lucians remain worried in light of troubling and unresolved questions while the international community looks on.

According to Mr Darnley Le Bourne who is a spokesperson for the Chakadan Daniel committee, a number of individuals are expected to address today’s rally, including the Coordinator for the Centre for legal aid and Human Rights, Mary Francis, as well as Parliamentary Representative for Micoud North Dr Gail Rigobert. Mr Le Bourne notes that the committee hopes that today’s activity will to bring into focus, a number of “troubling” and “unresolved” questions and concerns surrounding the death of Chakadan Daniel.
