The social problem of rape has been chosen as the theme for an open night organized by the Saint Lucia leg of 100 Thousand Poets for Change.

The event which is being coordinated by Ponm Damou Kreations will take place at Keebee's Sports Bar and Grill on the Rodney Bay Stripe on Saturday September 24, 2016.

Speaking ahead of the event Kensley Charlemagne noted that the event provides an avenue for poets to address rape from both a literal and figurative perspective and denounce such deviant behaviour.

He adds that they will portray their interpretation of the scourge from the perspective of the victim, perpetrator, society and the family. Charlemagne observes that rape can also have a metaphoric interpretation and does not have to be limited to the physical act.

Charlemagne notes that the prevalence in reports of rape has prompted Pomn D’amour to pursue the issue from an artiste’s point of view. They will also highlight that it is not only women who fall victim to rape—a perspective that should not be sidelined.

Saturday evening event is free of charge to the public
