Local MET Officials are urging St Lucians to brace for bad weather that is expected to affect the region in a few days.

According to the Director of Met Services Venantius Descartes, it is being brought on by a system that officials have been monitoring for some time now.

He has urged the public to stay calm and to heed the warnings and advisories which will be issued by disaster officials at the met office and the National Emergency management organization.

Mr Descrates says by now St Lucians should have had a working emergency plan in case of any eventuality during the hurricane season. While urging people to put the necessary measures in place he has advised against panic buying.

Although tropical cyclones have been known to form outside of the Atlantic Hurricane season, it normally runs from June to November.
