The director of Met services Venantius Descartes has issued a caution to the public, urging for premptive steps to be taken ahead of the effects of Tropical storm Matthew.

This comes following a pre strike meeting held on Tuesday and that latest update on the approaching system which was issued earlier today.

Descartes has also allayed flooding fears in vulnerable areas noting that officials have indicated that all major desilting works have been completed. He adds that as a result flooding is expected to be minimal.
