Crime in the city particularly against visitors is a growing concern for the immediate past President of the National Taxi Union.

Lucien Joseph says the situation has never been as bad St Lucia, as petty criminals continue to impact the local tourism product.

He points to the growing number of muggings and snatching especially on tourists in the last month, and his concern that many cruise ships will cut St Lucia from their itinerary because of attacks on their passengers.

Joseph has called for a collaboration among police and other agencies in order to beef up security for cruise passengers and local in Castries.

Efforts are being made by the City mayor and police to provide more patrols in Castries, particularly during the holiday season.
