A home invasion and theft of a vehicle on a Bonne Terre Woman on Monday has prompted a call for private citizens to take greater responsibility for their safety at home.

Police have confirmed that an individual forced his way into the residence tied up the female occupant of the house and later made off with her vehicle.

While police have registered swift action in the case, press relations Officer Gregory Alexander has urged citizens to take nothing for granted when entering and leaving their homes.

Alexander says while there is need for a revision of the laws that will make them more current, private citizens must always guard against attacks
