Employees of Lucelec who are members of the St Lucia Civil Service Association have apparently staged a sick out today.

The action is reportedly being taken over what workers believe is the slow pace at which negotiations between the management of the power company and their bargaining unit are moving.

Speaking on the situation today, CSA President Yvonne Edwin says the Union has not sanctioned any industrial action by its members however, the organization has been informed of an unusually high number of sick calls registered by workers today.

Edwin however stressed that the workers are growing increasingly frustrated over the lack of resolution on outstanding issues. However she stopped short of identifying what those issues are.

Meanwhile The CSA is getting set to hold discussions with its units in order to better understand what their needs are. This comes as the union prepares itself for talks with the government’s negotiating team for the new triennium.
