The newly rebranded Cultural Development Foundation has announced plans for the hosting of what has been dubbed the December Festivals.

These events include the Lantern Competition, Festival of Carols and Festival of lights, have become traditional celebrations to open the Christmas Season.

Public Relations Officer at the CDF Jimmy Clavier says this year the events will being on December 7th when the lantern competition will open at the National Cultural Centre. He adds that several enhancements have been added to the event which will be followed by the Festival of Carols.

The CDF is seeking to encourage greater participation from the public with a new and exciting activity added to the Festival of Lights. Mr Clavier notes that the evening has been dubbed - “Wishes of Hope” and the activity will include a procession of small floating lanterns from the Derek Walcott Square to the harbour, where they will be released.

This year’s Festival of Lights will include a show with super entertainment by some of the finest Saint Lucian Artistes under the theme “A Nation’s wish for hope, joy and peace”
