The significance of International Women’s Day has been marred by the pending loss of employment for hundreds of Women contracted under the NICE program.

That’s the sentiment being expressed by Raise Your Voice St Lucia Secretary Catherine Sealys, who has criticized the outcome of a review of the program, that has been a lifeline for many marginalized women.

Sealys has called on the government to make alternative arrangements for the workers before the NICE contracts are terminated.

Sealys believes that within successive governments, female parliamentarians and members of cabinet have women. She has therefore urged women from all walks of life to take a collective stand on issues that affect them.

Meanwhile Raise Your Voice has teamed up with the St Lucia Civil Service Association to host a movie night and fundraising lunch, as part of activities to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th and 10th respectively.
