Raise Your Voice Saint Lucia has expressed concern over what it notes as Government’s failure to initiate any new social policies, initiatives or investments to create employment for the vulnerable.

The sentiment comes ahead of the pending non renewal of contracts for several workers attached to the National Initiative for Creating employment NICE, most of whom are women.

The organization’s secretary Catherine Sealys has also called on the government to publicize the findings of a review conducted into the NICE Program and to provide a rationale for the decision to discontinue the contracts.

Raise Your Voice Saint Lucia Inc. has called on Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Economic Growth, Job Creation, External Affairs and the Public Service, Allen Chastanet, for prompt action to replace NICE with new and better employment and economic policies.

Raise Your Voice Saint Lucia views the NICE program as a direct investment in the social well-being of the underprivileged, specifically women in desperate circumstances and unable to provide their basic needs.
