The outcome of a review conducted into the NICE program has been released.

It comes following what the Prime Minister’s attaché Nancy Charles explains was a need to revisit the program to ascertain whether it was fulfilling its mandate.

Charles notes that the program initially included several components including agriculture, farmers, playing field maintenance, government agencies as well as small business assistance. She stressed that the home help care was not part of the original plan but was later introduced.

She adds that the intention was for all the programs to be self sustainable and the NICE program should have ended three years after its inception.

Charles stressed that a decision has been made through a cabinet conclusion on how the program will proceed. She notes that due to budgetary constraints government has no choice but to make certain adjustments

Prime Minister Allen Chastanet is expected to disclose his government’s plan for the Nice Program during his budget address at the start of the new financial year.
