Following up on last year’s successful event, “” 2017 is once again poised to excite, honour and empower women under the theme Archetypes and stereotypes, on the occasion of International Women´s Day.

The Embassies of Spain, Mexico and the Alliance Française once again have proposed a cultural and social celebration in Saint Lucia with a triple objective.  It includes a cultural activity, emphasizing the role of women in the Arts. The forum will also commemorate the IWD, by stressing the importance of the empowerment of women as a basic pillar of social development. The idea is to promote the creativity of local artists giving them a space and a subject to create their own artistic expressions.

Meanwhile, the launch of the Forum 2017 took place on March 2nd at the Alliance Française in Castries. It involved a meeting of influential women including Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, for the launch of the 2017 Edition of “” followed by a panel discussion on the theme Archetypes and stereotypes. Female politicians such as Hon Fortuna Belrose, Emma Hippolyte and Alvina Reynolds were in attendance along with the Ambassadors of Mexico, France, Venezuela, and other representatives of the diplomatic corps.

The third aspect of initiative is a cultural expose which will take place on Wednesday March 8th at 7pm at the National Cultural Centre.
