The Star Publishing Company has marked a thirty year milestone.

According to its publisher and talk show host Rick Wayne the paper opened here with the aim of highlighting many of the darker human interest stories that no one else dared to touch.

Recalling one of his more memorable experiences, Wayne recounts the details of a decades old, heart wrenching situation in Pavee, of a single mother’s struggle to survive extreme poverty. He adds that the impact of such a piece and the level of contempt it evoked from certain quarters.

The sometimes controversial writer who is known for his hard hitting editorials says the political pieces from the star began purely by accident.

In addition to its Wayne noted that the star has faced its fair share of struggles over time. He says the impact of high output costs and the financial crunch has taken its toll on the publishing company.
