An update on Investigations into the electrocution of a Choiseul man over the weekend has been released by officials at the St Lucia Electricity Services Ltd.

This after emergency officials confirmed that the man was holding on to a stay wire at the time of his death.

During a news conference which took place earlier today the company’s Chief Engineer Goodwin d’Auvergne informed journalists on the uses and function of stay wires, noting that they help to keep utility poles upright and provide a counter balance for the weight of wires running along the top of the poles.

He stressed that stay wires are not designed to be live.

D’auvergne however states that stay wires can, in rare instances become energized.
