The owner of the Cul De Sac quarry and prominent businessman Rayneau Gajadhar has been reacting to the devastating loss following Tuesday’s explosion.

Gajadhar says he is not in a position to disclose the facts surrounding the incident, as his company has made the plight of the injured and dead, its priority.

Speculation is that a 20 foot container storage unit filled with explosives was being repaired by a welder at the time of the incident.

A total of two hundred people were employed at the quarry, including Gajadhar’s brother who was killed in the explosion.

While Gajadhar has extended condolences to the families of those who perished in the disaster, he says the situation is particularly difficult for him because of his own loss.

He has however expressed gratitude for the level of assistance granted by the government and French medical officials during the crisis

Gajadhar says safety has always been paramount and that stringent measures have always been applied at the facility.
