The impact of bomb threats on the resources of the police force has become a major cause for concern following a series of calls that halted business in the capital on Monday.

Police Press Relations Officer Gregory Alexander confirmed that officers responded to three such incidents at various locations around Castries.

He stressed that such threats are always taken seriously because of the potential loss of life. Alexander also notes that response drills are immediately activated, both by law enforcement and the potential targets.

Alexander notes that while the technology and expertise to trace and identify the perpetrators behind the bomb threats, law enforcement continues to face certain challenges.

Alexander also pointed to the legislation specific to the penalties for anyone who makes bomb threats.

Alexander would not say whether authorities have made any headway with their investigations into the bomb threats.
