The Leeward Islands Airline Pilots Association (LIALPA) has called for the removal of the current LIAT Management by Shareholder Governments.

The call comes in light of what workers say is the massive deterioration of the airline’s financial health to the point where “LIAT can’t even pay salaries on time”.

A communique from the Association states that a recent LIAT Press Release referencing “Flight Disruptions Due To Industrial Unrest” has nothing to do with LIALPA and that its members are not involved.

The statement adds, that the workers continue to pledge to the Caribbean People that they are currently going above and beyond the call of duty to get the Airline running at Optimal Levels, even to the extent of not having meal breaks and working 11 hour shifts.

According to LIALPA, it’s members have already worked almost an extra week without pay and the situation this is not sustainable.

Meanwhile, Union representatives representing LIAT workers here were unavailable for comment.
