An avid autism lobbyist who is the parent of a child with the condition has lamented government’s failure to place more emphasis on the spectrum disorder.

Terrol Compton has however applauded efforts by the US administration and other international agencies which have made the condition a top priority, on Sunday during the global observance of World Autism Day.

Compton says while a strong effort is being made at some schools to accommodate children with autism, there is need for a revision of the education act.

Compton pointed to his own efforts to raise awareness about autism and the lack of enthusiasm from the ministry of health and education in the issue.

World Autism Day was observed on April 2nd.
