Officials at Victoria Hospital have declined to comment on the recent discharge of a patient who is believed to have been involved in a robbery attempt in Babonneau over the weekend.

Official reports suggest that the man was among three individuals involved in the heist that went awry. Police told the media on Tuesday that he was admitted to hospital following a severe beating, but was in stable condition.

Police Press Officer Gregory Alexander had informed that the individual was under police guard.

Meanwhile, Hospital officials say they will not be drawn on this issue. In fact they have informed that the case is a police matter and that law enforcement personnel are responsible for explaining the procedure for detaining suspects who are receiving treatment at the facility.

It is unclear whether criminal charges had been fined against the man or whether police are pursuing the matter.
