The gun allegedly used in a robbery attempt in Babonneau over the weekend has been retrieved by police.

Reports suggest that the high powered gun was found after police chased down information that led to a location in Hill 20 last night.

Police reportedly approached at least two suspicious looking men in the Hill 20 area late last night. The men gave chase, while discharging several rounds at the lawmen, before discarding the weapon. Police believe it may have been linked to the Babonneau robbery attempt.

It is still not clear how one of the suspect who was in police custody at hospital, managed to walk out of the facility. But he has since been recaptured.

Reports indicate that he is expected to appear in an ID parade and could be charged today. Sources however reveal that he has refused to provide police with any information on the two other accomplices.

Meanwhile RCI news has learnt that the apprehended by police in connection with the robbery attempt has been charged.

He is 25 year old Reynolds Alfred of Carellie, Castries. He is a chef by profession. He was taken to the First District Court where bail will be set by a magistrate.
