A post mortem performed on the body of an eight-month-old baby has confirmed the death as a homicide according to police.

The baby was discovered dead by her mother at their home in George Charles Boulevard, Marchand, Castries late Tuesday afternoon.

Reports are that the baby was discovered with a rope around her neck.

Police Press Relations Officer Grwegory Alexander has the details.

The post mortem revealed that the baby died of asphyxia secondary to ligature strangulation/hanging.

Alexander informed that police are actively pursuing leads in the case, but so far no arrests have been made. The baby’s death is the 24th homicide for 2017.
