The Take Over Village opened the 2017 calypso season on a high at the national Cultural Centre.

According to organizers, the event exceeded expectations as a bumper crowd showed up to sample what has been described as a good balance of new offerings from some of the more established names in Kaiso as well as that of up and coming artistes.

According to the Chairman of the Calypso Management Committee Claude Paul notes that soca artistes will also get an opportunity to serve up their material tomorrow evening in Gros Islet at the weekly Friday night street party.

Meanwhile Paul notes that in addition to the opening of the South and Ambassadors Tent, a number of strategic changes that are expected to boost the appeal of the carnival product this year. He noted that community involvement and collaborations with the business community have helped to make that possible.
