A total of two hundred and fifty-six (256) pieces of contraband were recovered during A comprehensive search conducted at the Bordelais Correctional Facility for contraband and other illegal substances.

The discovery included blades, Cannabis, lighters, weapons, chargers, phones, batteries, sim cards, pocket books, screws, nails, staple gun, chisel, tobacco, silver, and a phone case.

The operation dubbed search seizure, secure 2017 was the first of random searches which will be conducted on the facility this year. Some one hundred and twenty seven officials attached to the Royal St Lucia Police Force and prison guards as well as an independent official participated in the operation on June 3rd, as part of efforts to create a sterile environment and improve the national security at the prison.

Officials report that the task was undeniably tedious, as officers had to be creative in detecting the various methods of concealment that inmates used. Having been significantly successful with Operation Search Seizure Secure 2017, the Bordelais Correctional Facility has committed to employing appropriate measures towards maintaining a sterile environment.
