A statement issued from the Office of the Prime Minister has categorically denied reports that Police Commissioner Vernon Francois has been sent of leave.

According to Press Secretary Jadia Jn Pierre Emmanuel, the attention of the Government of Saint Lucia has been drawn to a story on the online news site, “Caribbean News Now” allegedly written by a “Caribbean News Now Contributor”.

The news comes following reports that the Commissioner was recently denied entry into United States for a scheduled meeting.

The story, alleges, among other things, that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Vernon Francois, “has been requested to take accumulated vacation leave totaling some 400 days.” It also alleges that “it has been suggested locally” that former Deputy Commissioner, Hermangild Francis “will be brought back on a three year contract.”

Mrs Emmanuel says has denied that no such move has been taken.

Meanwhile the Press Secretary notes that St Lucians can expect a confirmation on the date and time for an address to the nation on the issue sometime this week.
