The director of MET Services has set the record straight on information suggesting that a weather system is approaching St Lucia.

Venantius Descartes notes that while the island is expected to experience some periods of inclement weather, St Lucia is not in the path of the system and is not expected to be affected until late this evening into Tuesday morning.

Descartes however notes that the system is expected to develop into a tropical storm, bringing with it several inched of showers and thunderstorms.

Descartes has however implored St Lucians to be on guard especially as forecasters have predicted an above normal hurricane season.

He notes that another disturbance is expected to affect St Lucia in the next three to five days.

The Atlantic Hurricane Season opened on June 1st and is expected to run through November.
