The just concluded Roots and Soul Festival which was held over the weekend has drawn mixed reviews.

Among those commenting on the event is the Public Relations Officer on the Reggae Association of St Lucia Aaron Alexander who praised the Government for its decision to highlight what he describes as wholesome music.

However he has taken umbrage with attempts by the event organizers to feature and promote carnival at the Roots and Soul Festival. He says the offerings from local artistes were distasteful for such an event.

Alexander says he spared no effort in leading what he calls social disobedience to demonstrate is disapproval.

Alexander notes that RAS artistes are gearing up to take on a more prominent role at next year’s roots and soul festival. He says the organization intends to lobby and engage organizers on the issue.

Alexander has also called for the introduction of newcomers that can add to the longevity of the festival.

The finale of the roots and soul festival ushers in the carnival season.
