A series of site visits have been scheduled for Friday this week as Government moves ahead with plans to relocate the Cultural Development Foundation and the National Cultural Centre.

The disclosure was made by St Lucia’s Minister for Culture Fortuna Belrose as she addressed reporters during the Cabinet briefing on Monday.

Belrose assured that the decision is not being taken unilaterally and that the CDF has been engaged in the venture. She adds that several issues have been brought to light by the CDF and efforts are being made by government and related agencies that will promote more inclusion in deciding the way forward for the arts.

Meanwhile, the Minister also addressed concerns regarding government’s position on funding St Lucia’s participation in Carifesta.

Belrose maintained that government is willing to contribute to the cost, and has called for a greater level of transparency that will allow all artists a fair chance to represent St Lucia overseas.

The 13th edition of Carifesta will be held in Barbados from August 17th -27th.
