Police have confirmed reports of a shooting in the north of the island which has left a motorcyclist nursing a gunshot wound.

It is reported that the injured man may be in his late twenties or early thirties. He was travelling to Castries when a white Corolla pulled up with two men inside. They were both wearing masks and opened fire in the direction of the motorcyclist.

A bullet struck the Motorcyclist in his arm. He attempted to flee the scene but eyewitnesses say he fell to the ground, after he was shot.

According to information obtained from the Saint Lucia Times the corolla did not have a license plate.

A stray bullet struck a garbage truck, passing through the left side of the front and back windscreen. The bullet missed the driver of the truck by a few inches.

The shooting occurred at Bois D’ orange near the abandoned Daher Mall and the Gas Station, about 6:30 am.

The motive for the shooting is not known however the police are continuing their investigations.
