Concerns run high about the impact of the weather on carnival following an alert issued by met officials regarding storm conditions on Tuesday.

A Tropical Storm Watch was issued for Saint Lucia by the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services due to the formation of Tropical Storm Don.

But the watch was lifted on Tuesday as the system weakened according to officials.

The situation has however not escaped the attention of the carnival bands. According to the former President of the Carnival Bands Association Sonia Sifflet, the issue was one of serious concern when a decision was taken to shift the festival from the Pre-lent season to the summer.

She however stressed that adequate measures are put in place in case of such an eventuality, but it also appears that some revellers enjoy mas in the rain on Tuesday after a scorching carnival Monday.

The hurricane season runs from June to November.
