The St Lucia Blind Welfare Association is in dire straits and could be facing the possibility of closure.

The organization whose mandate is to provide support services for the blind and visually impaired is in urgent need of a financial intervention in order to continue providing such services to the public.

Obviously despondent about what he says is the grim reality, the Association’s Executive Director Anthony Avril noted that the organization has been struggling and so far has not been able to meet its financial obligations to staff and the public for the month of June.

Avril stressed that all options are being explored in an effort to resolve the situation and return a sense of normalcy at the Blind Welfare Association.

He noted that talks are being held with stakeholders but have not yielded any solutions.

The executive Director fears that the Blind Welfare Association could close its doors if a significant financial intervention is not forthcoming soon.
