Despite claims to the contrary from the government, the Secretary of Raise Your Voice St Lucia continues to maintain that plans were afoot to discontinue the special needs pediatric program coordinated by the Ministry of Health.

In a spirited interview on Thursday’s newsspin program, Catherine Sealys insists that her call on the government for answers came following her own investigations into claims by a parent with a special needs child, the program had been discontinued.

She cited the absence of information disseminated to other support medical staff at wellness centres, about the future of the program following the government’s termination of a contract with Specialist paediatrician Dr Jacqueline Bird.

Suggestions are that Dr Bird will be replaced by two incoming physicians on the Special needs program.

In a statement issued by the Senior Communications Officer in the Office of the Prime Minister Nicole Mcdonald informed that there were never any plans to discontinue the program.
