Preparations for the hosting of Mercury Beach in St Lucia are well advanced, according to the organizers of the event that brings thousands of French visitors to St Lucia.

Thousands of party goers from Martinique and around the region are expected to converge on St Lucia for the event which takes place annually at Pigeon Island.

It is expected to highlight the spend power of Martiniquans which according to Mercury Beach Spokesperson Cuthbert Didier amounted to over 12.1 million EC dollars last year into the local economy.

He pointed to the opportunity that exists for local tourism officials to draw from Martinique and Europe, in addition to the traditional marketing of St Lucia overseas.

Didier notes that the infrastructure for the safe hosting of the nautical event is currently being installed.

In addition to the usual merriment and the tourism benefits that come with the hosting of Mercury Beach, organizers have thrown in an additional incentive. Patrons to the event will get a chance to win a 60 horse power Mercury engine speed boat.
