Despite strong opposition to plans for the relocation of the National Cultural Centre and the CDF Offices, government has announced that its decision on the matter will be finalized in the next two weeks.

Discussions on the move have been ongoing between the artist community and the Minister for Culture Fortuna Belrose for some time now.

The plan is use the Barnard hill location to relocate the Halls of Justice and to find a suitable location to house a theatre.

Belrose maintains that the government is seeking to make the best decision for the arts.

Belrose noted that while there is an appreciation for the artist attachment to the Barnard Hill location, government has to consider the bigger picture.

Meanwhile, the group representing the Arts and Cultural Community in St. Lucia ACCT has in a press statement issued on Wednesday, cited several reasons for its opposition to government’s proposed alternative site for relocating the National Cultural Centre and the CDF headquarters.
