The excitement surrounding a historic solar eclipse has prompted officials from the Blind Welfare Association to issue a caution to St Lucians.

This comes just moments before the moon casts a shadow over the sun around 1pm today.

Speaking on the issue Executive Director at the St Lucia Blind Welfare Association Anthony Avril has advised curious members of the public to avoid the urge to look directly at the eclipse with the naked eye.

Monday’s solar eclipse could cause thousands of people to lose vision if they don’t take the proper precautions, one expert warns.
