The village of Laborie will celebrate the achievements of Dame Pearlette Louisy, as she observes the 20th Anniversary of her appointment as Governor General of St. Lucia.

The inaugural event will be a Thanksgiving Mass at the Church of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Laborie on Sunday September 10, 2017 at 9.00 a.m., followed by the renaming of “La Croix Road” in her honour. The second event scheduled for later in September will be the formal opening of The Iconic Laborian Information Centre at The Papèl at the Rudy John Beach Park.

The events are organized by the Laborie Sub-Committee of the Dame Pearlette Louisy Legacy Committee (DPLCC) which was established in 2016 to plan and implement activities designed to preserve her sterling contribution as Governor General of Saint Lucia, and her legacy of distinguished, productive and outstanding service at the local, regional and international levels.

Dame Pearlette was sworn in as Governor General of Saint Lucia on September 17, 1997, and is currently the second longest-serving Governor General in the Commonwealth. The Legacy Committee extends sincerest congratulations to her on this significant milestone in her private and professional life, and in particular, on her twenty years of selfless and steadfast service to Saint Lucia. The Laborie community is pleased to be associated with these celebrations and it joins the rest of the country in paying tribute to her and to her legacy.
