A team comprising two staff and three contractors from Lucelec have travelled to St Kitts to assist with the restoration effort following the passage of Hurricane Irma.

The recovery effort is being coordinated by Carilec, through its disaster response team, of which Lucelec is a member.

The effort was commissioned at the request of affected countries after the category five storm damaged electricity infrastructure in several Caribbean islands.

Speaking on the mission, Corporate Communications Manager Roger Joseph says the team arrived on Saturday to join teams from other Carilec member states in St Kuitts for an initial assessment of the damage and the scope of works to restore power to the island.

Joseph noted that Lucelec remains committed to providing additional assistance and manpower resources if and when the request comes through Carilec.

For now, Joseph says it is too early to tell how long the restoration project will last.
