The Chairman on the Board of the St Jude Hospital has blasted the former administration over its failure to make any significant progress on the rebuilding of St Jude Hospital, eight years after the facility was gutted by fire.

Dr Ulric Mondesir says after thousands of dollars in donor funds for the project, following the September 2009 fire, the only ones to have benefitted to date are the contractors on the hospital project.

He describes the current conditions in which patients are to convalesce as a dungeon of shame where they are stripped of their pride.

Speaking on the recent commissioning of a hospital morgue, Dr Mondesir maintains that what is needed most right now is a functioning hospital that can cater to the medical needs of residents in the south of the island.

A church service is being organized in memory of the three patients who perished in the St Jude hospital fire.
