The office of the Governor General has denied reports that Dame Pearlette Louisy is set to retire by December 17th.

This follows reports of the resignation that first surfaced here in April when Prime Minister Allen Chastanet refused to be drawn on the matter. He would however note that it is ‘very unusual’ to have a Governor General in the position for such a long time.

Dame Pearlette Louisy has held the position of governor General of St Lucia for the past twenty years.

Despite the floating reports about her retirement since April there has been no clear response on the issue from the government, however Dame Pearlette Louisy’s private secretary told RCI news today that there has been no communication from the governor general on this matter.
