Despite what appears to be a low-key New Years Eve, the Cultural Development Foundation says Assou Square celebrations are still on.

The activity which takes place annually is seen as a traditional way to ring in the New Year is staged through a collaboration between the CDF and the Castries Constituency Council.

Senior events and production officer at the CDF Tyrone Harris says there have been no delays in the planning stages of the event, which started ahead of schedule.

While he was unable to report on whether or not vendors concerns regarding the cost of the booths have been addressed, Mr Harris pointed out the prices remain unchanged for the past three years.

Assou Square celebrations will be held along the John Compton Highway on January 1st and 2nd 2014
