The island has recorded another weekend road accident which has claimed the life of a middle aged man.

Official reports confirm that a green Vitara driven by 51 year old Ian Bruce Sullivan ran into a parked container which was parked near the construction site along the Bois D’orange road. The incident occurred around midnight on Friday. Sullivan was a St Lucian by birth but held Australian citizenship. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

In more news, police have been alerted to a string of robberies in the La Pansee area over the weekend.

a Shopkeeper of La Pansee reported that on Saturday January 4, 2014 about 9:30pm, five (5) masked men held her at gunpoint and stole EC$90 from her cash box in her shop. One man also reported that five (5) unknown men held him at gunpoint and stole from him; two gold chains valued at EC$2000.00. The incident also occurred on the evening of January 4th around 9:30pm

Meanwhile, another man of La Pansee reported that on Saturday January 4, 2014 about 9:30pm, one masked man held him at gun point robbing him of two blackberry curve cell-phones one gold chain and one gold ring, with a total value EC$300.00.

Another man of the same area was held at gunpoint and robbed of $16.00, while one woman was held at gunpoint and robbed of two cellular phones on the same evening in a separate incident.

Investigations into the robberies are ongoing.
