The outcome of an Emergency National Council Meeting of the United Workers Party is still pending.

Claims are that the meeting was called to discuss the future of Stephenson king as opposition leader and what to do with Castries Central MP Richard Frederick. But after hours of discussion and deliberations among members, a clear conclusion is yet to be announced.

Reports suggest that a parliamentary caucus meeting has been scheduled for today to determine what changes, if any, the party will adopt.

Speaking to the Press on Sunday UWP Chairman Ezekiel Joseph would only say that the party had taken a decision to restructure itself.

RCI news has learnt that the results of the poll taken on Sunday, are expected to be disclosed at a joint press conference with the leader of the Opposition Stephenson king and the United Workers Party leader Allen Chastanet on Tuesday morning at 10am.

Reliable sources have hinted that the party has taken a unanimous decision in keeping with section 15.4 of the UWP constitution, which states that “Where the political leader is not a parliamentarian, the national council shall convene an extraordinary meeting to which shall be invited all winning candidates of the party, to select an individual from among the deputy leaders who won a seat, or in the absence of a winning deputy leader, such other person from among the winning candidates, to be recommended to the governor general, as the leader of the opposition.
